Happened upon the Rogue River Gorge on the way to Crater Lake. Very glad I stopped because I vastly enjoyed this loud little park.
Crater Lake is certainly worth the visit, but other than a relatively boring panorama of the lake, which I found too boring to post, Phantom Ship Island provided hours of photographic intrigue. When visiting Crater Lake, be prepared for several hours of drive time around the lake, with many scenic overlooks and rugged hikes.
The Oregon coast is wilder and more rugged than the coastline further south. Brand's Cormorants find protection in the heights above a pounding surf.
